Stuff to Try
Hello, all! I realize I have been absent for quite a while. There has been a lot happening here, and I will have exciting news to share soon, but for now I have another set of quick reviews. This time, they will be sorted out into categories.
Food
- Uyghur food is fantastic, and I hope more such restaurants will be popping up soon in other parts of the country.
- Mango mead is really good, as is pineapple hard cider.
- If you put a little bit of rosewater into your coffee, the taste is quite pleasant. Note, I said a LITTLE bit. Rose-- and other florals-- can be an insanely overpowering taste if you put more than a little bit in. Always put less than you think is enough-- you can always add more after tasting.
Not Food
- Trays are not to be sneezed at. There's a reason they exist. What would you rather do, take ALL of your midnight snack up to your room one item at a time, or bring it all in one trip? How is this even a question? For now I have a platter, but at some point, I'm going to just get my a tray already.
- Try using argan oil in your hair care routine! I would have thought it would be too heavy and greasy for my fine hair, but it really isn't. They key is to use the tiniest bit, rub it on your palms, and then apply to your hair-- NOT touching your scalp. If that gets onto your scalp, you are doomed to a look that more resembles Aragorn than a Disney princess.
- I love the Great British Baking Show. I only wish it was rated G. The show is mostly very clean, but it has just barely enough innuendo and stuff to make it something I can't watch with my younger sisters unless I preview the episodes first. You're so close, man!
- Can I talk about how much I love The Court Jester? This hilarious musical from 1955 stars Danny Kaye, Angela Lansbury, Glynis Johns, and even Basil Rathbone. It's extremely silly and over-the-top, which is why I love it. Danny Kaye plays an outlaw who must disguise himself as a famous jester in order to overthrow a usurper and restore the rightful king to the throne..... but events don't exactly unfold in a simple and straightforward manner, as other people have their own agendas.
If you're a review junkie, or if you're looking for someplace to eat, I've done a bunch of reviews on Google Reviews-- mostly for places in the Northern Virginia area, but there's a few I've done for places in Atlanta, Colorado, and Italy as well. More reviews will be coming as soon as I try out some new places.
